Alexandria Hosts Table Tennis, Field Events in Regional Senior Olympics

The 10-day Olympics begins Sept. 15.

 

The city's Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities Department is hosting the table tennis and field events in this year's Northern Virginia Senior Olympics being held Sept. 15-26 throughout Northern Virginia.

The opening ceremony on Sept. 15 at Arlington County's Thomas Jefferson Community Center will feature the T.C. Williams High School JROTC Army Color Guard with the national anthem sung by Noel Williams of Alexandria.

Following the opening ceremony, various Alexandria residents will participate in eight track events.

The table tennis competition at 10 a.m. Sept. 20 will be held at the Charles Houston Recreation Center in Old Town Alexandria. T.C. Williams High School is the site of the field events beginning 9 a.m. Sept. 23, which include shotput, discus, high jump, standing and running long jumps and a mini javelin throw.
