Updated: Two Die in Fauquier County Plane Crash

Shannon Beebe, 42, was flying single-engine aircraft when it crashed Sunday at Warrenton Air Park.

 

10:30 a.m. Friday update — WJLA is reporting that the female passenger was Alexandria attorney Elizabeth Pignatello.

According to the report, she had been dating Beebe for a little over a year. She was the mother of two.

Pignatello's obituary ran Thursday in the Washington Post.

An Alexandria man and an unidentified female were killed Sunday in a plane crash in Fauquier County, according to Virginia State Police.

Male pilot Shannon Beebe, 42, was approaching a landing strip at Warrenton Air Park in a single-engine aircraft shortly before 2 p.m. when it crashed into a nearby field and burst into flames.

Beebe and the female passenger died at the scene of the crash.

The bodies were transported to Manassas for examination. The medical examiner is still in the process of identifying the female passenger.

The cause of the crash of the homemade model aircraft remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police, National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
