Bistrot Lafayette on King Street to Close
The French restaurant and piano bar will close around mid-December, according to its owners.
The French restaurant Bistrot Lafayette expects to close around mid-December, according to an email from the restaurant's owners sent to customers and friends.
"It is on a sweet and sour note that I come to you to announce the sale of Bistrot Lafayette restaurant," says the note signed Isabelle and Marie.
Laos-born chef Keo Koumtakous and his wife Marie co-owned the restaurant located at 1118 King St. with Isabelle Zorro.
"I have been blessed, with Keo and Marie, in being able to create and run the Bistrot for the past ten years, and thanks to you all we have felt immense joy and pride in it..." writes Zorro.
Au revoir.

Any reason for the move, to whom is it being sold, and will it remain a restaurant?

I'm getting some more details, but it will remain a restaurant serving Mediterranean and Greek food.

Hello Sharon
Some friends told me about your posting on the sale of Bistrot, so I wanted to stop and say thank you for your interest and concern.
We hope to see you all in new venture soon, Old Town has been my home for more than 20 years and has brought lots of happyness to my life.
Thanks

Isabelle,
What was the wonderful "young" lady's name who played the piano for you on the weekends? Will the new owners carry on the tradition?
Thanks!

I am very disappointed to hear that the Bistrot Lafayette has closed. My husband and I had heard and read very good reviews about the restaurant and we were looking forward to dining at your restaurant.
We have a $150 gift certificate to Bistrot Lafayette that we were planning to use over the holidays. We would have used the gift certificate sooner had we known the place was closing.
Is there anyway you can honor our gift certificate - either refund or exchange for another comparable dining place in Old Towne?
Thanks.

Mary, I am sorry about your gift certificate but the sale had to be confidential until last minute for business reasons.
However, we made sure the minute we knew the sale was going thru, to email our customers about it and created a great 1/2 price promotion to show our appreciation to our faithful customers, I am sorry to hear you were not on the list. We found ourselves totally overwhelmed in this process and tried to resolve all issues, knowing that situation like yours will unfortunately happen.
I do happen to often go to Notting Hill where the Bistrot Piano Bar is being carried on Friday and Saturday evenings 10pm to 12:30am and if you care to join us one night there I will gladly invite you for a round of drinks. Just ask the bartender if Isabelle from Bistrot is in the house.
Thanks.
Isabelle.

Oh....I so enjoyed the weekend piano bar sing-alongs! I am wondering if the new owners will continue the tradition or, if not, where that wonderful lady is playing now?? Does anyone know?? Every time I went, it seemed to be crowded and such a good time!

Hello Jerome,
this is Isabelle, sorry for the late reply but I was away for a while.
I made contact before selling Bistrot with the new owners of Notting Hill, Lilly and Amir, and they decided to carry on the Piano Bar in their establishment.
Notting Hill is located 3 doors down from Bistrot heading torwards the river and is happening every Friday and Saturday from 10pm to 12:30am.
Come check it out and make sure to introduce yourself, you will reunite with most patrons of Bistrot Lafayette and will probably see me there too!
See you soon!
Isabelle.
