City Hosts Roundtable on Responsible Homeownership

Event next week will discuss refinancing options and ways to avoid foreclosure, among other things.

The City of Alexandria in concert with the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department is hosting a seminar on refinancing and offering resources on foreclosure prevention.

The event will be held Aug. 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the City Council workroom, on the second floor of .
 
The roundtable on Helping Responsible Homeowners features lenders, housing counselors and other stakeholders discussing the refinancing process, recent changes to the Home Affordable Refinance Program and other opportunities to help homeowners reduce their monthly housing costs.

Residents should contact the City’s Office of Housing at 703-746-4990 to register for the Housing Roundtable.

The city also works with the to encourage public housing residents to make the transition to homeownership.

ARHA participates in the Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership Program, which allows public housing agencies to assist residents with monthly mortgage payments in place of rental assistance payments.
