Cooling Centers and Pools Open on Sunday
A few places to escape from the heat.
The following city facilities will be open as cooling centers:
- Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St. (open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday)
- Cora Kelly Recreation Center, 25 W. Reed Ave. (open until 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday)
- Samuel Tucker Elementary School, 435 Ferdinand Day Dr. (open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday)
- Other recreation centers and libraries will be open on Sunday if power is restored to their locations by their normal operating hours
The following city pools will be open on Sunday:
- Old Town Pool (1609 Cameron St.) will be open from 12 noon to 7 p.m.
- Charles Houston Memorial Pool (901 Wythe St.) will be open from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
- Warwick Pool (3301 Landover St.) will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. if power is restored to the facility by that time.
