Lenny Harris' Wife to Appear on Steve Harvey Morning Show
Wife of slain community activist to discuss the Lenny Harris One Love Legacy Festival.
Deborah Harris, the wife of late community activist Lenny Harris, will appear Friday morning on The Steve Harvey Morning Show on WHUR to discuss the Lenny Harris One Love Legacy Festival.
Harris is scheduled to be on the program around 8 a.m. Howard University's WHUR broadcasts on 96.3 FM.
Lenny Harris founded the nonprofit Operation H.O.P.E. that presents the One Love Festival each year. The organization is dedicated to providing Alexandria citizens with alternative public services.
Radio One, which does not operate WHUR, has signed on as a sponsor of the festival, which is scheduled for Aug. 18 from noon to 6 p.m. in the field next to George Washington Middle School. The free festival will include moon bounces, face painting and rides for children. Go-go bands Suttle Thoughts and Faycez U Know are scheduled to perform. The festival will also include poetry reading, comedians and a DJ. Attendees are also encouraged to donate backpacks for Alexandria's children, if they are able.
Rock Harper, a former winner of the reality show “Hell’s Kitchen” and the celebrity judge at June’s Taste of Del Ray, will also be on hand at the festival for pictures and autographs.
Lenny Harris went missing in September. After a series of leads in the case, his body was recovered from a well in Fort Washington, Md., in January. Police later determined he had been shot and killed in a robbery. Three men were arrested in connection with the murder.
Alexandrians gathered to remember Harris in February.
