As part of the 10th annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival, The Art League's ceramics department is holding its annual Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser, September 8 and 9, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. For $15, you can get a bowl handcrafted by one of our ceramics artists, along with local artisan ice cream from Artfully Chocolate!

A small group of artists have spent weeks throwing, trimming, glazing, and firing to create 1,000 unique bowls. We got three of them to show off and compete to see how quickly they could throw on the potter's wheel — you can watch the results of the Ice Cream Bowl Throwdown on YouTube here.

In addition to selling ice cream bowls, The Art League will also offer free hands-on kids’ art projects with artist and Art League instructor Steve Prince throughout the King Street Art Festival.

We hope to see you next weekend on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9. Look for our booth on Market Square at the corner of King and Fairfax Streets — it'll be the one covered in ice cream bowls.
