DESCRIPTION:This is a free workshop designed as a collaborative effort be
 tween&nbsp\;Peace Paper&nbsp\;and the Torpedo Factory Art Center's&nbsp\
 ;Target Gallery&nbsp\;and our&nbsp\;Art in Public Spaces Program.\nPeace
  Paper facilitators Drew Matot and Margaret Mahan\, along with art thera
 pist Arielle Matthews\, will bring a portable paper-making studio to the
  Torpedo Factory and lead this workshop from July 7th through July 11th.
  Workshop participants will be comprised of Torpedo Factory artists as w
 ell as survivors of trauma &ndash\; including war veterans\, cancer surv
 ivors\, and family members of those who have lost someone to a traumatic
  event.\nThrough making paper from their own clothing and prints from th
 eir own images\, workshop participants will utilize both traditional and
  contemporary applications of the paper arts as a means to tell their in
 dividual stories. The workshop will culminate with an exhibit of handmad
 e paper\, pulp paintings\, pulp prints and broadsides made throughout th
 e workshop.&nbsp\;\nWhile parts of this workshop are private due to the 
 personal nature of the traumatic events participants have gone through\,
  other parts will be done in the public space of the art center so that 
 visitors can get a glimpse into what goes in to paper-making and the imp
 ortance of art as an outlet for healing.\nThis workshop is completely fr
 ee to participants. Funding was made possible through Target Gallery&rsq
 uo\;s annual exhibition fundraiser in which money is raised specifically
  for outreach projects such as Peace Paper Project\, and our upcoming ex
 hibition of the AIDS Memorial Quilt at the end of July. Additional fundi
 ng support was made possible through the Friends of the Torpedo Factory 
 Art Center.\nArtwork created during this workshop will be on exhibit fro
 m June 12th through 29th\, with a special reception on June 12th\, durin
 g the art center&rsquo\;s monthly 2nd Thursday Art Night.\nThis is a fre
