Citizenship Day, Council Returns and Piano

A quick glance at what’s happening Tuesday, Sept. 10 in and around Old Town Alexandria:

Citizenship Day — Alexandria will join the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in recognizing individuals as naturalized United States citizens at its Citizenship Day event at 6 p.m. in Market Square in Old Town. During the event, the honorees will be sworn in and will take the oath of allegiance for United States citizenship. David Agnew, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, will be this year's keynote speaker.

A Dog Walks into a Bar — Bring your pooch to Jackson 20 (480 King St.) at 5 p.m. for Doggie Yappy Hour, a tradition unlike any other.  

Piano Man — Morrison House (116 S. Alfred St.) is hosting its Tuesday sing-along in its piano bar featuring Bob Smith and friends. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Join Looking for a job? — The Alexandria Police Department is hiring officers. The mission of the APD is to provide competent, courteous, professional and community-oriented police services. Officer duties will consist of patrolling an assigned area, answering calls for service, conducting preliminary investigations, writing reports and controlling traffic.
