Alexandria's 'The Black Widow' Loses Women's Hot Dog-Eating Title

Last year, she ate 45 hot dogs; this time she could only manage 27 and 3/4.

Alexandria's Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas has long made headlines for being a competitive eater and for the past two years, the woman who could eat the most hot dogs at Nathan's annual Coney Island hot dog-eating contest.

But this past weekend, they crowned a new champ.

Thomas, who weighed in before the match at 100 pounds, was unseated Friday by Miki Sudo of Las Vegas.

Sudo wolfed down 34 hot dogs in 10 minutes, while Thomas managed 27 and 3/4 hot dogs, according to The New York Post. Last year, Thomas took home the title after downing 45 hot dogs.

In all 13 women competed in the contest before an estimated crowd of 30,000 at Coney Island and more than a million viewers on ESPN, according to The Huffington Post.

Thomas is a native of South Korea but now makes her home in Alexandria.
