Campagna Center Benefits from the 12th Annual Toast To Fashion

The Junior Friends of the Campagna Center hosted a fashion show and fundraiser

The 12th Annual Toast to Fashion was held Thursday to support , an  organization offering early learning and out-of-school programs for Alexandria's children.

The event at Belle Haven Country Club was organized and hosted by the Junior Friends of the Campagna Center, a group of more than 150 women who provide fundraising and volunteer support for the center. 

Lee Martin, Campagna Center's marketing and development coordinator, said:"Through the Junior Friends' hard work, we have more than doubled ticket sales from last year. We're very proud of their hard work and the extra money earned to support the Campagna programs."

Campagna serves more than 1,700 children and families daily through its seven programs: Alexandria Head Start, Early Head Start, Campagna Early Learning Center, Afternoon Adventures, Campagna Kids, Building Better Futures and the New Neighbors program. 

The night was a fun-filled event complete with a fashion show, raffle and a marketplace with all proceeds going toward supporting Campagna's programs.

Guests were invited to shop, eat and drink while perusing the various vendor stands. Jewelry, handbags, clothing, scarves, and specialty food items were just some of the goods available to shoppers.

Local vendors included Bella Jenna, , Queen Bee Designs, The Dressed Up Nut, Smathers & Branson and Top It Off. The event also allowed area artisans like Xiomara Hernandez, who recently started her own accessories company, Handmedley Accessories, the opportunity to showcase her handmade bags. 

Prior to the fashion show, the Junior Friends announced the 2011 recipients of its annual awards for meritorious service. The awards went to Bridget Weaver for The Anne Culbert Legacy of Service; Mary Cardarelli Bergmann for the Barbara Pratt Lee Heart of Gold, and to Patti Rouzie and Sheila Whalen for the Golden Halo award.

The fashion show, emceed by WJLA/ABC7-TV's Britt McHenry, showed colorful springtime trends for women, men and children. Clothing and accessories were provided by local boutiques and vendors such as Bloomers, , , Kiskadee, , Stella and Dot, Tara Cooney Swimwear, The Pink Palm, and more.
