With schools closed and federal workers given the day off, Alexandria received a genuine snow day on Tuesday following an underwhelming slush fest on Monday.

The National Weather Service recorded between 1.5 and 1.8 inches of snow in Alexandria on Tuesday. Much of it melted off around noon, just in time for a lunchtime rush in Old Town.
