Volunteer Alexandria Names New Executive Director

Marion Brunken worked at Volunteer Alexandria from 2002 to 2004, but most recently was with Freddie Mac.

Volunteer Alexandria has named Marion Brunken as its new executive director.

Brunken joins the nonprofit after most recently working as the employee engagement manager at Freddie Mac where she oversaw volunteer opportunities in the area for more than 5,000 Freddie Mac staff.

She worked at Volunteer Alexandria as operations manager from 2002 to 2004 and also has served as a special events coordinator with Greater DC Cares.

“Marion brings all the talent, experiences and commitment we were looking for as we searched for our new leader,” said Volunteer Alexandria President Allison Cryor DiNardo. “She has extensive experience in volunteer management, corporate volunteer projects and management. We’re delighted she’s joining our team to promote volunteerism here in Alexandria.”

The previous executive director, Donna Walker James, left in August.
