Arts Festival Celebrates Creativity Among Alexandria's Youth

The Second Annual Youth Arts Festival of Alexandria took place on Saturday afternoon at the Jefferson-Houston School.

The Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority held its second annual Youth Arts Festival on Saturday afternoon. The festival celebrated the diverse arts culture among the younger generations in Alexandria.

Held on the grounds of the Jefferson-Houston School, the festival featured stage performances, craft activities, food and art showcases.  The variety of performances ranged from a youth chorus to spoken-word poetry to dance ensembles.

"Alexandria is a known destination for arts and culture," said Mayor William Euille as he addressed the crowd.

Vice Mayor Kerry Donley, Councilwoman Del Pepper and HUD Washington Field Director Marvin Turner also attended the event in a show of support for the arts.
