Art Activated

Let your creative side play at our 6th annual Art Activated, taking place during the Alexandria King Street Art Festival, Saturday September 8th from 12-4pm. Cool off from the street fair and rejuvenate with refreshments at an art-filled extravaganza perfect for all ages.

Get creative with hands-on projects: Visitors can make their own original piece of artwork with the local screen-printing duo Sediment Press. Kids from 1 to 100 will love the popular Bubble Gum Art where they can pick their favorite color gumball, chew it up, and add it to the “paint-by-number” style project. The Create-Your-Own Button station let’s everyone make his or her own wearable collage. Get a first-hand look at the creative process by visiting artists in their studios and watch works of art take shape before your eyes!

Q-Art Code Scavenger Hunt: A Q-ART Code Scavenger Hunt will offer a chance to win big with a $150 gift-certificate to the Torpedo Factory; bring your smart phone to play!  The scavenger hunt will begin at the Alexandria Art Experience booth at Market Square where visitors can also chill out with an Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser supporting The Art League.  The Q-Art Code Scavenger Hunt will go on both days of the Art Festival, and on Saturday only - only during Art Activated - we will also have a traditional kid-friendly scavenger hunt at the Art Center.
