Kids Are King at the King Street Art Festival

Old Town's art festival on Sept. 8 and 9 this year is offering plenty of fun for kids - and adults too.

The King Street Arts Festival is going all out to make it fun for adults and kids this year.

The overall event will be held Sept. 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with many separate, break-out hands-on, fun activities.

Hands-On Arts Activity with Artist Steve Prince. Saturday 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. presents a hands-on activity for kids led by instructor and artist Steve Prince.

Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser. Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser supporting The Art League Ceramics Department presents a delicious way to support the arts. Select a unique artist-made ceramic bowl and get a scoop of ice cream from Artfully Chocolate to enjoy at the festival, $15 per bowl.

Art Activated at the Torpedo Factory Art Center Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. , 105 N. Union St. Admission: Free. At this 6th annual event, get creative with artist demonstrations and hands-on projects including screen-printing, Bubble Gum Art and a Create-Your-Own Button station. A Q-ART Code Scavenger Hunt will offer a chance to win a $150 gift certificate to the Torpedo Factory; bring your smart phone to play!

Puppet Making and Kaleidoscope Prize Drawing. The Kaleidoscope collection of events presents a tent with prize drawings for kaleidoscopes and for tickets to the new Kaleidoscope for Kids event taking place Sept. 29 and 30 at the Durant Center for the Arts. Kids can also take part in puppet making and learn about the puppet show and puppet parade that will take place at the Kaleidoscope for Kids event. Kaleidoscope is produced by Access through the Arts.
