Vote For The Art Monkeys to be the RAW DC Visual Artists of the Year

Voting ends Oct. 15

Workhouse Arts Center artists Mary Gallagher Stout and John Gascot are looking for votes to become the RAW DC Visual Artists of the Year

The Art Monkeys, as Gascot and Stout affectionately call themselves, are among the most prolific artists at the Workhouse, and host the arts center’s annual “Art Out Loud” exhibition, were recently featured in Arlington’s “Artomatic” show and hold painting exhibitions across the region.

The RAW Awards are among the biggest prizes in the indie art scene. The awards operate in 54 cities across the U.S. and Australia, and welcome all genres of art.

“Pleeeease vote for us!” wrote Stout in a recent email. “Getting the DC nomination (and even better, WINNING at national level in Los Angeles) will help us IMMENSELY with our ongoing mission of making art accessible to EVERYBODY and exploring its potential for social change.”

What happens if the Art Monkeys win?

“The winners receive big career-boosting prizes like distribution, store placement, studio time, gallery placement and consultations with industry executives and professionals,” according to the RAW website.
