Austin Grill Closes for Remodeling

Tex-Mex grill aims to reopen in mid-February.

Austin Grill in Old Town Alexandria closed its doors earlier this month and will remain closed into mid-February for remodeling.

In September, Alexandria’s Board of Architectural Review for the Old and Historic District approved the installation of new signage, wall-mounted exterior lights and new blue canvas awnings for the Tex-Mex grill.

The remodeling also includes exterior painting. Interior work is already underway at the restaurant, located at 801 King St.

Austin Grill will reopen with not only a new look but also a new menu, according to Eater:

“The restaurant's new look will feature wood tones, more dramatic lighting, a graffiti-inspired mural, tequila bottle chandeliers and a bigger bar with a tequila tower. The menu will change as well, with new additions like a jambalaya, new cocktails (with new glassware to serve them in) and a more frequently updated drinks menu. The changes come just in time for the restaurant's 25th anniversary.”
