Bloomers Hosting Bra Drive

Gently used bras will be passed on to the Bra Recyclers, a group working to offer bras to women in need around the world.

Undergarment boutique Bloomers is hosting a bra drive, asking women to donate their bras on Oct. 20.

The bras then will be passed on to the Bra Recyclers, which is collecting bras for women in need all over the world.

The Bra Recyclers have declared October Bra Recycling Month. Last October, the organization collected 11,000 bras and this year, it has set a goal of 15,000.

Additionally, in support of breast cancer awareness, for every pound of bras collected in October, the Bra Recyclers will make a monetary donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Bloomers in Old Town and Shirlington are asking that customers bring their gently worn bras to the shops on Oct. 20. Customers will receive a free swag bag and be entered to win a raffle for a panty and bra set.
