Hank's Oyster Bar Undergoing Expansion on King Street

Old Town Alexandria eatery plans to reopen Dec. 9.

Hank’s Oyster Bar on King Street temporarily closed this week for an expansion project that will increase the size of the popular Old Town eatery.

Hank’s plans to reopen on Monday, Dec. 9, after it completes some of its new seating area in 1024 King St. Previously, Hank’s was housed exclusively at 1026 King St.

In June 2012, Alexandria City Council approved plans for the project, which consists primarily of 29 bar-style seats and service facilities on the first floor of the building with storage, refrigeration and office space in the basement. The restaurant will offer a total of 89 seats.

Hank's will continue to offer oysters and other seafood by table service, bar and via carryout.

The 2012 permit application said the additional area of the restaurant may contain televisions and "while live entertainment is not contemplated at this time, it may be in the future."
