MGM National Harbor to Hold 'Career Showcase' This Week

Casino eyeing 2016 opening.

It won't be opening its doors across the river in National Harbor until 2016, but the MGM National Harbor casino and entertainment venue is betting that hundreds of potential employees would like to come hear about the types of jobs they'll soon offer.

The company will hold a "career showcase" Thursday in Bowie, Md. to give an overview of the company and go into detail about the types of jobs they will soon have available. The jobs event will begin at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the day until 7 p.m. at Bowie State University, 14000 Jericho Park Road.

In an effort to avoid long lines, the company is offering timed tickets.

What sort of jobs might become available? Likely positions associated with, in MGM's words:

  • a luxury hotel
  • fine dining from local and celebrity chefs
  • world-class entertainment
  • shops from among the "finest retailers in the world"
  • a luxury spa
Construction on the $925 million complex is expected to begin in late July, The Washington Post recently reported.
