Waterfront Market Named to Top Restaurant Openings List

Neighborhood Restaurant Group's new DC ventures also receive nods from the Washington Business Journal.

Located in the Torpedo Factory Arcade and boasting outdoor seats along the City Marina and King Street, the fast-casual eatery opened Nov. 26 offering lunch, dinner and brunch.  

The 150-seat restaurant with gourmet grocery component carries made-to-order sandwiches, sushi and treats from Manor’s Bittersweet Café and Bakery. The market carries picnic items like meats and cheeses and produce.

“Pretty nice for us to be up there with Stephen Starr (of Le Diplomate on 14th St. in the District) et. al, but I think it says a lot about the momentum of the Alexandria waterfront,” Manor said.

Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille received cited the Waterfront Market and other planned restaurants as part of a “revolution” on the city’s riverside.

While the Waterfront Market was the only Alexandria restaurant to make the list, two of the Neighborhood Restaurant Group’s new DC ventures—The Iron Gate (1734 N St. NW) and Bluejacket/Arsenal (300 Tingey St. SE)—received nods. The Neighborhood Restaurant Group is based in Alexandria. Its first restaurant was the Evening Star Café in Del Ray.
