Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Welcomes in 2014 Chair and Board at Chairman’s Community Reception
ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA – The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce welcomed in its 2014 Board Chairman Joe Haggerty and Board on January 23 at it’s Chairman’s Community Reception, presented by SunTrust .

The reception, a rousing success eliciting huge community involvement, was held at the United Way Worldwide Headquarters and featured keynote speaker former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, who highlighted the Chamber’s role in the Alexandria community. After her remarks, Secretary Chao joined guests to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Appearances by Washington Nationals’ mascot George Washington and Alexandria’s iconic Town Crier Ben Fiore-Walker kept guests camera’s flashing as they enjoyed a jazz lounge, cigar bar, and fine food. Attendees mingled with Congressman Jim Moran, former Governor Jim Gilmore and Ambassador Don Beyer at the sold out event.
“Our Chamber had a very successful year in 2013 under John Renner’s leadership. We will build on that momentum in order involve more individuals in our networking breakfasts and “After Hours” events. We will continue to advocate for the business community ; and through special events will honor public safety officers , business leaders, small entrepreneurs and women leaders during 2014” stated Joe Haggerty, Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board.
The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest chambers in the country, having been founded in 1906, before the United States Chamber of Commerce.
