Waterfront Operations Update - May 1, 2014
Storm Cleanup:
Storm Cleanup:
- Waterfront Operations will be working on cleaning up after the flooding. The priorities are to get the walking trails cleared before the weekend. Next week the rest of the debris will be cleaned up throughout the week.
- As soon as conditions allow there will be work on the turf on the dog park. After the work we will be putting up signs and ropes to reduce traffic on the worst areas of the dog park.
- The area will be monitored and additional work will be done as needed to improve turf conditions
- Erosion mitigation has been complete in the playground area.
- Repairs to the playground fence have been made and more improvements to the fence are planned.
- Several volunteer groups are scheduled to work on the overgrown areas on the hillside, the volleyball court, and install dry wells in key drainage issue areas.
- All toys have been removed from these playgrounds and are being stored by Waterfront Operations. Toys in a playground area provide several safety concerns and violate guidelines for public playground safety. If you would like to reclaim a toy that has been left in these playgrounds please contact me.
- Options are being looked at to have a designated area for toys at Armory Tot-Lot, for more information on this please contact Jack Browand jack.browand@alexandriava.gov
