Waterfront Operations is implementing the following maintenance standards:
Find out what's happening in Old Town Alexandriawith free, real-time updates from Patch.
Turf Program. Standard mowing, irrigation, aeration, and turf amendment schedules for each park.
Weed Control Program. Schedule for standard weed control programs on all non-turf areas (walkways, playgrounds, flower beds etc.)

Park Audits. List of non-standard items at each park as of July 2012. These audits will be updated every three months.
Upcoming Projects by Park:
All Parks:
- Aeration at all parks will be during the last two weeks of September. Prior to this time Waterfront Operations will produce a list of the turf applications and the MSDS for these applications. Dog parks will be closed while aeration is occurring, approximately four hours.
- Standard flower bed, tree care, and mulching operations are being developed and are planned to be ready to implement by October. This will include the procedure for trimming bushes/trees, maintaining planting areas, and mulching around trees. If you are interested in volunteering to assist in the development or implementation of these procedures please contact the Park Manager eugene.loew@alexandriava.gov .
Armory Tot Lot:
- Playground mulch refill scheduled between the last week of September and/or first week of October.
Montgomery Park:
- Playground mulch refill scheduled between the last week of September and/or first week of October.
Rivergate Park:
- Replacing old picnic tables.
- Replacement of electric meter shed, planned for completion before mid October.
Windmill Hill Park:
- Playground mulch refill scheduled between the last week of September and/or first week of October. There will be some work to remove the excess sand that has washed into the lower playground before refilling mulch.
- Removal of weeds in stream bed near dog park.
