Waterfront Operations Update: September 9 – September 15

Upcoming Projects by Park:

All Parks:

• Aeration at all parks will be starting September 18. Dog parks will be closed while aeration is occurring, approximately four hours.
  Fertilizer: MSDS
  Gypsum: MSDS
  Wetting Agent: MSDS
  All Pro Transition Tall Fescue

• Flower Beds:
  
  Standard flower bed, tree care, and mulching operations are being developed and are planned to be ready to implement by October. This will include the procedure for trimming bushes/trees, maintaining planting areas, and mulching around trees.
  
  A part time seasonal position has been hired to help improve the flower beds in all waterfront parks.
  
  If you are interested in volunteering to assist in the development or implementation of these procedures please contact the Park Manager eugene.loew@alexandriava.gov.

Armory Tot Lot:

• Playground mulch refill scheduled between the September 23 and the October 1.

King Street Park:

• The new entry bed is planned for replanting. August was unseasonably dry and all the initial plantings died during the month. With the addition of a part time staff we are replanting this area with a plan to keep it maintained and watered throughout the fall.

Montgomery Park:

• Playground mulch refill scheduled between the September 23 and the October 1.

Rivergate Park:

• Replacing old picnic tables completion planned for .

• Replacement of electric meter shed, planned for completion before mid October.

Windmill Hill Park:

• Playground mulch refill scheduled between the last week of September 23 and the October 1.

• Removal of weeds in stream bed near dog park.
