7th Annual Gadsby's Tavern Dog Contest

In the 18th century dogs were highly valuable
companions.  Helpful in hunting and guarding, they were even
frequently traded as a form of currency.  For the seventh year Gadsby's
Tavern Museum Society will honor another tavern tradition and celebrate our
four-legged friends. Your prized pup could win you several great prizes and go
on to represent Gadsby’s Tavern Museum Society for 2014-2015 in Alexandria
events like the Scottish Christmas Walk and the George Washington Birthday
Parade.   The $35 entry fee also pays for a one-year family
membership in GTMS.   No special talents required.  All participating
dogs should be good with people and crowds, able to play with others,
well-groomed and well-mannered.  More information and registration is
available on the Gadsby’s Tavern website
www.gadsbystavernmuseum.us.
Watchers welcome when we start the judging at 2:00 on Market
Square.  Registration for trot-ins start at 1:30.  Come enjoy some canine camaraderie and help uphold another
Alexandria tradition!  Free to watch.
