New Year's Eve: First Night Alexandria

Tickets on sale for the largest family-friendly, alcohol-free New Year's Eve party in the region.

Tickets are now available for First Night Alexandria, billed as the largest family-friendly, alcohol-free New Year’s Eve party in the Washington, DC region.

Activities begin early in the afternoon on Dec. 31 across Old Town Alexandria, including tastings, art demonstrations and the fifth annual Fun Hunt scavenger hunt, and roll on to midnight when a fireworks display over the Potomac River will ring in 2014.

From 7 p.m. to midnight, there will be more than 100 performances in venues, including many family-friendly events like face painting, a moon bounce and a Battle of the Bands competition between teenage bands.

Admission is $20. Children 12 and under and active military get in for free.

Admission badges can be purchased online at the First Night Alexandria website and picked up beginning at noon Dec. 31 at the Durant Arts Center (1605 Cameron St.). Badges can be purchased in advance and in person at the Alexandria Visitors Center (221 King St.) through Dec. 30 and many other locations across Alexandria.

Every First Night Alexandria venue will sell badges beginning 15 minutes prior to the first performance. Cash will only be accepted on Dec. 31 with the exceptions of the Durant Arts Center and the Torpedo Factory Art Center (105 N. Union St.).
