Alexandria Firefighters Think Pink to Support a Cause

Alexandria's fire fighters don pink T-shirts as part of their uniform throughout October to increase awareness about breast cancer.

The Alexandria Fire Department is offering pink Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts throughout October in support of the Alexandria Breast Cancer Walk Fund.

All proceeds from the sales will be donated to the fund and all employees will wear the shirts as part of their uniforms throughout October.

To purchase a shirt, stop by Station 201 at 317 Prince St. Shirts are available in various sizes and sell for $15 and $20.

The Alexandria Breast Cancer Walk Fund has helped more than 5,000 uninsured Alexandria women receive free mammograms and other diagnostic screenings since its inception in 1994.

Information about the walk, which will be held Oct. 22 beginning at 8 a.m. at the AMC Hoffmann Center, is available at www.alexcancerwalk.com or by calling 703-746-5030.
