Alexandria Police Distribute Thanksgiving Meals

COPS officers distribute an estimated 2 tons of food.

Community-Oriented Policing officers with the Alexandria Police Department handed out Thanksgiving turkeys with trimmings Wednesday as part of the department’s sixth annual meal giveaway. 

Approximately 30 families received full Thanksgiving meals that were donated by Giant Foods. 

Each family received a turkey, side dishes and three bags of nonperishable pantry stuffers.

An additional 20 families received pantry stuffers on Wednesday and a large food donation was made to the New Hope Housing shelter.

In total, an estimated 2 tons of food were distributed throughout Alexandria on Wednesday. COPS officers from all three sectors of the city participated.
