Alexandria Police Name Huchler New Deputy Chief
Huchler replaces Hassan Aden, who recently left the area to take the chief of police position in Greenville, N.C.
Capt. David Huchler has been promoted to Alexandria Police Department deputy chief, where he will oversee the Patrol Operations Bureau.

Deputy Chief Huchler has served with the department for 21 years. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, both from George Mason University.

Huchler most recently commanded the Traffic, Special Events and Parking Division of the Operations Support Bureau. He is also the Special Operations Team Commander.
Previously, Deputy Chief Huchler commanded the Support Services Division and oversaw the 2010 Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies re-accreditation process for the police department. During this time, he served as a fellow with the Police Foundation Fellowship Program in Washington, DC.

He also has served in patrol, criminal investigations and the Office of Intelligence and Homeland Security. He was a special operations team member and a Community Oriented Policing officer.
