Alexandria Woman Indicted In Death Of 98-Year-Old Mother

Police say mother was left on floor without medication after falling from bed.

An Alexandria woman is facing charges in connection with the death of her 98-year-old mother nearly one year ago.

Anne Bailey Farr, 69, is charged with felony abuse and neglect of an incapacitated adult resulting in death. Her mother, Margaret H. Farr, died nearly a year ago at age 98, but the indictment was not issued until last week, according to The Washington Post.

On May 19, 2013, emergency workers responded to a call from Anne Farr, who reported that her mother had died, according to the Post, which cited a police officer’s affidavit. The officer responded to the scene and found Margaret Farr lying on her stomach about three feet from her bed.

Farr stated that her mother had fallen out of bed either Friday or Saturday and had stayed there until Sunday the 19th before the fire department was called.

According to the affidavit, Farr said she did not provide her mother with any food or medication during the hours she spent on the floor, but a pill box containing blood pressure medication for Friday and Saturday was found near Farr’s body.
