Child Seat Safety Inspections Available in Alexandria

Inspections by the Sheriff's Office will be by appointment and at some community events.

The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office is now offering child seat safety inspections for city residents.

During the fiscal year 2014 budget process, City Council worked with Sheriff Dana Lawhorne to identify funding for training and overtime to bring the program back to the city.

The free service is available by appointment, but the office occasionally will conduct safety seat checks at community events, according to the Sheriff’s Office website. Those community events will be posted on the city's calendar.

Those in need of services should call 703-746-4114 during regular business hours. A deputy trained in child safety seat inspection and installation will follow-up to schedule an appointment.

The office requests residents bring a proof of residency to their appointment.
