Firefighters on the Scene of Electrical Fire on Princess Street

No word on injuries.

Firefighters from the City of Alexandria Fire Department are on the scene of an electrical fire Tuesday morning in the 100 block of Princess Street in Old Town Alexandria, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

A number of emergency vehicles are on the scene. Officials are recommending that residents avoid the area due to the vehicles blocking much of the roadway.

It's uncertain how much damage was done in the fire but a mention on the fire department's Facebook page says that a working smoke detector "may have saved this home."
