Man Shot Near Braddock Road Metro Station

Victim in stable condition. Police say shooting not thought connected to Lodato homicide.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred near the Braddock Road Metro station near N. Payne and Wythe streets.

Police responded to a call of multiple shots fired in the area about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release. Officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition, the release said.

"The Alexandria Police Department realizes that the public is still very concerned regarding the recent Lodato homicide," the release said. "Though this investigation is in the initial phase, obvious differences in the crimes lead detectives to believe that these incidents are not connected."

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Dan Gordon with the Alexandria Police Department at 703-746-6685.
