Police Arrest Suspect in Stolen Ring Case

Police last week arrested Cedric William Earles for the alleged theft of a $25,000 ring stolen from in July.

cooperation between the Alexandria Police and the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Police departments.

Earles, 50, was arrested at his residence in Washington and was charged with grand larceny.

He is being held in Washington pending extradition to Alexandria.

Cari Stribling, who works at the shop and whose father owns it, told Patch she is "very thankful on the progress that's been made in the case." Stribling added that Alexandria police Det. Julie Goble, who was assigned to the case "did an exceptional job."

Stribling said the arrest was made in connection with an anonymous tip that was provided to police.

At 3:20 p.m. on July 24, a suspect described as a bald black male in his 40s standing between 5-foot-10 and 6-1 and weighing approximately 185 pounds entered the business located at 609 King St. The suspect asked to look at diamond rings and took a platinum and diamond ring valued at more than $25,000.   

The suspect had a mustache and was wearing wire-rimmed glasses, an off-white long-sleeve polo shirt, blue jeans and black and brown boots.

The suspect also had a tattoo on the left side of his neck that included the words “Sigma Forever” and possibly another word, according to police. He was wearing a wedding band police describe as “unique” with white gold that crisscrossed at the top of the ring where there were three diamonds in a row.
