Update: Transformer Fire Knocks Out Power

Traffic lights out on Duke Street, 260 homes without power

A transformer fire on the corner of Duke and West streets has knocked out power in the area, including to traffic lights.

Around 11:15 a.m., Alexandria Police were directing traffic through the intersections without power. Dominion Power trucks were at the scene, which was blocked off with caution tape.

Alexandria Fire Department spokesman Robert Rodriguez said Dominion Power will determine the cause of the fire and Alexandria's Fire Department is no longer on the scene.
