City Still Searching for Holiday Tree

Tree will light up Market Square beginning Nov. 23, the beginning of the city's holiday season.

The city is still searching for a holiday tree to light up Market Square.

Alexandria is looking for a Colorado Blue Spruce, Leyland Cypress or other evergreen that's about 25 to 35 feet tall.

The city will remove the tree from the donor's property and grind the stump.

The lighting of the tree at 7 p.m. on Nov. 23 officially opens the holiday season in Alexandria. The ceremony will feature a special visit by Santa Claus, along with entertainment and caroling.

Tree donors should call City Arborist John Noelle at 703-746-5499 or email john.noelle@alexandriava.gov.
