Robinson Terminal Copacetic With City Plan, Says Value of Properties Unknown

Robinson Terminal Corp. replies to Waterfront Work Group questions in Nov. 16 letter.

wrote a letter to the Waterfront Plan Work Group clarifying its current position on the city’s plan to redevelop the riverside region.

“We believe the small area plan provides a realistic, viable and flexible basis for potential mixed-use redevelopment to allow the future developmental approval process to take into account the interests of the City, the community and Robinson Terminal,” the letter reads.

The letter, signed by Robert Taylor, adds that while Robinson doesn’t favor everything in the plan and “has reserved , we believe that we can continue to work constructively with the City if the plan is adopted.”

The letter also addresses a question about the possible value of the Robinson properties. Taylor writes that the properties are not under contract and aren’t currently being marketed for sale. He points out that the buildings, Robinson Terminals North and South, have not been appraised recently.

“Therefore, neither the fair market value nor the value of the adoption of the Plan is known…It is logical for the Waterfront Plan Work Group to assume that the fair market value of the properties should increase if the zoning issues relating to redevelopment rights are resolved.”

The city would like to work toward redeveloping those sites as part of its revitalized waterfront while other groups believe they should be preserved.
