The city’s Transportation and Environmental Services Department, Office of Environmental Quality and Solid Waste Division in conjunction with the Alice Ferguson Foundation is hosting a cleaning effort as part of a project to improve the Potomac River watershed.
Families, scouts, students, retirees, and thousands of other concerned citizens will hit the shorelines, neighborhood parks, community streets and schoolyards across the region to clean local streams in the 25th annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup.

The Alice Ferguson Foundation created the watershed-wide cleanup in 1989 and has overseen the collection of well over 5 million pounds of trash.
The City of Alexandria is hosting two sites on Four Mile Run on April 6, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- End of 3700 Commonwealth Ave.
- Mt. Vernon Ave. (on the right before crossing Four Mile Run)
