VRE Riders Pay More Beginning July 1
The operations board approved a 4 percent fare increase.
Virginia Railway Express riders will pay more beginning July 1.
VRE's operations board unanimously approved a 4 percent fare increase to meet the rising costs for its contractors, fuel, and fees to access CSX and Norfolk Southern’s rail lines, officials said.
A one-way trip from Fredericksburg to D.C. will cost $11.10 and a monthly pass will cost $305.

From Fredericksburg to Alexandria will cost $10.40 for a one-way trip and a monthly pass will cost $287.40.
Riders are reminded that tickets must be validated prior to each ride with the exception of five-day passes, which need to be validated for the first ride only and monthly passes do not need to be validated.
