ACPS Names New Interim Superintendent

Alvin Crawley most recently served as an interim superintendent for Prince George's County Public Schools.

Alexandria City School Board is expected to approve a contract this week confirming Alvin Crawley as interim superintendent for Alexandria City Public Schools.

Crawley most recently served as the interim superintendent for Prince George's County Public Schools. He spent the majority of his career in education in Arlington County Public Schools including roles as assistant superintendent of student services and director of special education.

Former ACPS Superintendent Morton Sherman left the school system at the end of August. Margee Walsh is currently acting superintendent and will remain in that role until Crawley's arrival Oct. 14.

The School Board plans to select a superintendent search firm by Oct. 17. For updates about the search, check the ACPS website offering information on the search for the new superintendent.
