ACPS Seeks Tutors for AVID Program

School system seeks tutors to work 15-20 hours weekly in a secondary school during the school year.

Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking tutors to participate in the Advanced Via Individual Determination, or AVID, program for the upcoming school year.

AVID tutors assist secondary school students in their learning by facilitating tutorial groups using a Socratic methodology. They also collaborate with middle school and high school faculty and other tutors to support and build the program through college and career-related field trips.

ACPS is beginning its fourth year of AVID and will graduate the first AVID class in 2013.
