Alexandria Named Top Community for Youth
America's Promise Alliance says Alexandria's schools, after-school programs and other initiatives make it one of the top 100 communities for young people in the United States.
The City of Alexandria once again has been named one of the 100 best communities in the United States for young people by America’s Promise Alliance.
Alexandria is a five-time winner. The group, which focuses on giving children fundamental resources, said the city is a good place for enhancing the quality of life through various strategic academic and afterschool programs.
The alliance cited Alexandria City Public Schools for its award-winning strategic plan to close the achievement gap as well as after school initiatives such as the Fund for Alexandria’s Child, Space of Her Own and the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria.
