Alexandria’s Firefighting History Walking Tour

Explore Alexandria’s firefighting history on this walking tour.You will learn about volunteer firefighting in early Alexandria, including the five fire stations, three major fires, and how the Union occupation during the Civil War affected firefighting.

The tour will begin at the historic Friendship Firehouse and go east on Prince Street and then return to Friendship via King Street about an hour and a half later. 

**This history tour will not interest small children but may be of interest to kids age 10 and older.
