Visitors will meet “Henry,” Fort Ward’s resident artilleryman, through 30-minute presentations given between 10 a.m. and noon, and between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The uniform, accoutrements and equipment of Fort Ward’s artillery exhibit figure will be discussed.
Fort Ward is the best-preserved fortification in the Defenses of Washington, which were built to protect the Union capital during the Civil War. The museum offers changing exhibits, tours, lectures, and interpretive programs throughout the year.
