Marching Titans Seek Last-Minute Donations for Sugar Bowl Trip

T.C. Williams marching band will perform at halftime of the Jan. 2 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

The T.C. Williams High School Marching Titans are gearing up for a trip to the Sugar Bowl and the band still needs some help getting to New Orleans.

Band boosters are reaching out for last-minute donations to get band members to the Big Easy.

The Marching Titans, directed by Carlos Gonzalez, will leave Alexandria on Dec. 29 to perform with 14 other marching bands from across the country during the halftime show of the Jan. 2 bowl game featuring No. 3 Alabama and No. 11 Oklahoma.

The 80-member band will spend five days in New Orleans, rehearse and compete with the other invited high school bands, learn from nationally renowned adjudicators and explore the city that gave birth to jazz.

The Sugar Bowl will be televised on ESPN beginning at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 2.
