Two T.C. Williams Students Intend to Join College Football Programs

Joe Massaquoi plans to attend Marshall University and Jay Whitmire intends to go to the University of Virginia

Two T.C. Williams High School Titans football players signed National Letters of Intent for Division 1A Football Programs on Feb. 2, which is National College Football Signing Day.

Joe Massaquoi and Jay Whitmire signed letters of intent in Principal Suzanne Maxey's conference room.

Massaquoi has been a three-year starter on the varsity football team and will enter the Marshall University beginning January 2012. He is being "Gray Shirted" to help prepare him for the fall of 2012 Thundering Herd Football Team.

"He is being penciled in at defensive end, where he will use his great speed and athletic ability to sack opposing quarterbacks," said Titans Head Football Coach Dennis Randolph.

Whitmire signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville beginning in fall 2011. He is a four-year starter on offense and defense for the Titans. The preliminary position for the 6-foot-7-inch, 290-pound future Cavalier is offensive tackle.

"He is a big, strong, very athletic football player that could play offense or defense," Randolph said.

Other Titan players also are being considered by several other schools and may make decisions very soon about continuing academics and participating in college level football.
