NCAA Sweet Sixteen: Ticket Information for Indiana, Miami, Marquette, Syracuse at Verizon Center

March Madness continues: The 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament comes to Washington, DC's Verizon Center for the East East Region semifinals and final this week.

It's Sweet Sixteen time!

The NCAA men’s basketball tournament East Region semifinals are coming to Verizon Center in Washington, DC on Thursday, March 28.

The East Region’s top four seeds—No. 1 Indiana, No. 2 Miami, No. 3 Marquette and No. 4 Syracuse—all advanced to the Sweet 16 with wins over the weekend.

Thursday’s doubleheader begins at 7:15 p.m. when No. 3-seed Marquette meets No. 2-seed Miami. In the other semifinal, No. 4 Syracuse takes on top-seeded Indiana at 9:45 p.m.

Both games will be broadcast on CBS.

Thursday’s winners will play at noon Saturday, March 30, at Verizon Center for a spot in the Final Four, which will be held April 6 in Atlanta.

Where to Get Tickets

Just a handful of tickets to Thursday’s session—which includes both games—remain available on the NCAA website. Tickets start at $315 each. Packages for both Thursday and Saturday start at $495 on the NCAA website.

Tickets for both the East Region semifinals and final also are available on StubHub.com and GreatSeats.com.

The Matchups

The Marquette Golden Eagles (25-8) edged Davidson and Butler by a combined three points to reach the semifinals and a date with Miami.

The Miami Hurricanes (29-6) beat Pacific and Illinois to earn at ticket to DC.

Miami coach Jim Larranaga has history on his side at Verizon Center. As the coach of George Mason in 2006, Larranaga’s 11th-seeded Patriots beat Wichita State and Connecticut at the arena to complete an improbable run to the Final Four.

The Syracuse Orange (28-9) defeated Montana and California to reach the semifinals. Syrcause didn’t fare well in DC during the regular season, falling to Georgetown 61-39 at Verizon Center on March 9.

The Indiana Hoosiers (29-6) topped James Madison and Temple to punch their ticket to Verizon Center. Indiana defeated Syracuse 74-73 in the 1987 NCAA title game in New Orleans.

Indiana coach Tom Crean could face Marquette, where he coached from 1999 to 2008, if the Hoosiers and Golden Eagles both advance.

Getting to Verizon Center

Verizon Center, located at 601 F Street NW, is located directly above the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Station, which serves the Yellow, Green and Red lines. The arena is also four blocks east of the Metro Center Station on G Street, which serves the Blue, Orange and Red lines.

Metrorail service is extended on weekdays when games and events extend beyond Metro’s midnight closing, so you'll be able to get home if you take Metro to the games. 

If you’re planning on driving to the arena, there are several nearby garages, including Gallery Place parking garage on 6th Street NW, the public garage next door to Rosa Mexicano restaurant on F Street NW and the public garage located near 7th and I Streets NW.

There are three Capital Bikeshare stations within two blocks of the arena.
