Artful Gifts at The Art League Gallery

Surprise your friends and family with work of art from a local artist from The Art League Gallery — and save 10% if you buy on Black Friday, November 23!

Are you looking for something different to give friends and family this holiday season? Try surprising them with work of art from a local artist from The Art League Gallery — and save 10% if you buy on Black Friday, November 23!

Check out the image gallery above for a preview of this month's exhibits — “Small Works,” “Large Works,” and “Cold River” — which are on view through Monday, December 3. “Small Works” is a juried group exhibit of small-format artwork with lots of affordable pieces by painters, printmakers, sculptors, and more.

“Cold River” is photographer Andrew Zimmermann's solo exhibit of large-format black-and-white photographs of the frozen Colorado landscape. Printed from 8″ x 10″ negatives by direct contact, his images bring out in rich detail the sharp contrasts in the winter environment. Zimmermann has been working with large-format photography since 1998 and was awarded a fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in 2011.

If you plan on doing Black Friday shopping, don't forget that the City of Alexandria is offering free parking at parking meters and in all City-owned garages and parking lots as a special incentive for shoppers to visit Old Town to make their holiday purchases!

The Art League Gallery, on the first floor of the Torpedo Factory Art Center at 105 N. Union Street, is a membership gallery with monthly juried group exhibits and solo artist exhibits. For details about the Black Friday sale, click here. Gallery hours are Monday–Saturday, 10:00 am–6:00 pm; Thursday, 10:00 am–9:00 pm; and Sunday, 12:00 noon–6:00 pm.
